Since 1919, local volunteers have sorted, shelved and sold a variety of donated merchandise for the benefit of local charities. Each of these charities staff a department in the house. Although some of our volunteers have come and gone and charities have changed over the years, the mission of the Shop remains....
Let others give so that these local charities may live

As one of our original charities from the inception of the Economy Shop, the Oak Park & River Forest Day Nursery's core mission is to provide full-time quality nurturing childcare and preschool education by trained and caring staff in a safe environment for families in the community.
The Day Nursery program encourages the continued social, cognitive and emotional development of children and works to ensure that children become life-long learners and achieve success in future formal education. The Day Nursery also seeks to support and strengthen families by assuring parents that their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.
As one of our original charities from the inception of the Economy Shop, the Children’s Clinic is a community-supported health care organization that provides medical, dental and social services for children whose families are unable to afford the cost of private health care.
As a not-for-profit, social service and mental health agency, Thrive Counseling Center is dedicated to enriching family and individual life through counseling and education. The emotional well-being of every individual in our community is at the heart of our work.
As one of our original charities from the inception of the Economy Shop, Hephzibah enhances the lives of children and families through a continuum of innovative programs.
The Animal Care League is a limited admission shelter located in Oak Park. We help homeless cats and dogs by providing them food, shelter, medical attention and love until we can find them a loving home.
To provide the educational, social and cultural activities that will inspire adults age 50 and older to continue their quest for lifelong learning, support their independence, broaden their horizons and, at the same time, encourage their involvement in the community.
